Level 101: Managed Care Fundamentals - Medicare
In 2008 Medicare covered 45.2 million people and paid out $462 billion in benefits. Projections are for it to go up substantially in the coming years. It consists of two parts—Hospital Insurance (HI), Supplementary Medical Insurance (SMI), each of which has a trust fund. The two funds pay the benefits for the four parts of Medicare.

Managed Care Fundamentals - MedicareThis module covers Medicare from Part A to Part D and includes both the current trends to look for going forward and the history of how we got to where we are.

This module also provides a complete explanation of the eligibility requirements for each part of the program. Understanding how Medicare functions and what benefits are offered provides learners with a valuable perspective on how an increasing portion of America’s healthcare services are provided.
