Good Promotional Practices
Good promotional practices are necessary to ensure all employees are acting ethically when they are involved in the promotion of pharmaceutical or medical device products. Good Promotional practices are typically developed from laws and regulations, guidance documents from industry groups such as the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers Association (PhRMA), government agencies like the Office of Inspector General for Health and Human Services (OIG), and company policies.

Good Clinical PracticesThe Good Promotional Practices eLearning course from PharmaCertify is based on core principles that provide a basis for decision-making even when specific guidance is not available. Those principles are:

  • No Quid Pro Quo—items of value should not be exchanged as a reward for business. This is also known as  “buying the business.”
  • Promotion that is truthful, on-label, and fair and balanced—the benefits of products must not be overstated and the risks never minimized.
  • Relationships with HCPs should be of benefit to the patients—your relationships with HCPs should be focused on providing information about products.

This course will guide your employees through good promotional practices, and help keep them compliant with laws like the federal Anti-kickback Statute, the Food, Drug and Cosmetics Act and the False Claims Act.

Topics include:

  • Gifts, meals and entertainment
  • Speaker programs
  • Formulary committees
  • Advisory boards
  • Handling off-label use inquiries
  • Accuracy, fair balance and product comparison
